Creamy Salmon Orzo

A simple one pan creamy salmon orzo recipe made with tender salmon, orzo pasta, garlic, lemon, and parmesan cheese. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 salmon fillets 6 oz each
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp parsley

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan and sear salmon on both sides until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in the same pan and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add orzo and stir to coat in butter. Toast briefly.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and simmer until orzo is tender.
  5. Add milk or cream and stir until the sauce becomes creamy.
  6. Mix in parmesan cheese and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Add salmon back into the pan and gently mix.
  8. Finish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add more broth if needed for a looser texture
  • Fresh salmon gives best flavor and texture
  • Stir often to prevent sticking
  • Do not overcook the orzo
