Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef steak thin sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a large sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  2. Slice the beef into very thin strips. Slice the bell peppers and onion into similar thin strips so they cook evenly.
  3. Place the sliced beef, peppers, and onions onto the sheet pan. Drizzle olive oil over everything and sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika evenly across the top.
  4. Use your hands or tongs to mix everything well on the pan. Make sure all pieces are coated with oil and seasoning. Spread the mixture into a single layer for even cooking.
  5. Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Halfway through cooking, remove the pan and stir the mixture to ensure even cooking and light browning.
  6. Once the beef is fully cooked and the vegetables are soft, remove the pan from the oven. Place slices of provolone cheese over the top of the hot mixture.
  7. Return the pan to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and slightly bubbly.
  8. Slice open the hoagie rolls and warm them if desired.
  9. Spoon the cheesy beef and vegetable mixture into the rolls. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For the best flavor in this Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteak, use ribeye steak sliced very thin. Slightly freezing the beef for 20 to 30 minutes makes it easier to slice.
  • Make sure to spread the beef and vegetables in a single layer on the pan. Overcrowding will cause steaming instead of roasting.
  • Stir the mixture halfway through cooking so everything cooks evenly and gets light browning.
  • You can toast the hoagie rolls in the oven for 2 to 3 minutes for better texture and flavor.
  • If you like extra cheese, feel free to add more slices or use a cheese sauce for a creamier finish.
  • Add mushrooms, jalapenos, or extra peppers to customize your easy sheet pan Philly cheesesteak recipe.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan or oven for best results.
  • This recipe can also be made with chicken instead of beef for a lighter version.
  • For a low carb option, skip the rolls and serve the mixture in a bowl or over lettuce.
